Babies born beneath the tenth percentile of average weight for their gestational age are called growth retarded. The fetus does not receive enough oxygen and nutrients during the course of development.

Growth is therefore slow and inadequate. These babies, have high mortality.

Causes of Intrauterine Growth Retardation
